Spamalot San Francisco | Orpheum Theatre
Coming to the bay area this spring is the Tony Award winning hilarious parody of a classic 1974 comedy. This is 2005’s Tony Award winner for Best Musical, ‘Monty Python’s Spamalot’, set to run in San Francisco’s Orpheum Theatre from April 10 to 22, 2012.
This musical pokes fun at the historical legend that is King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table and their journey to find the Holy Grail. Although it is an adaptation of the 1974 film ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’, ‘Spamalot’ offers many and different hilarious twists and turns that sets it apart from the original film. The musical is written by Eric Idle of the Monty Python team along with John Du Pre and Neil Innes. Music and lyrics are from Idle as well, with direction from the critically acclaimed Mike Nichols. Now on its second mounting in SanFo, the musical has played in Broadway, West End, Las Vegas, Australia and in several European countries, achieving both critical and commercial success.
So “eat ham, and jam and Spam a lot” and be satiated with this musical that throws us back to the olden times in laughter and fascination, through clever parodies and funnily entertaining music.
